T Dorsey Named to HCS Alliance of Teacher Leaders

McDonough Middle School is excited to share that Ms. Dorsey has been selected to participate in the Henry County Schools Teacher Alliance of Leaders.

This is a special honor that recognizes outstanding teachers who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a commitment to making a difference both in and out of the classroom. Ms. Dorsey truly represents the best of what it means to be a Warhawk. 

Ms. Dorsey  began her student life at  Pointe Sienna Elementary school Florida. She also attended Royal Palm Beach Middle School. While her high school plan  was to continue at Royal Palm Beach, her plans changed when her family moved to Georgia. She graduated from Newton High School before enrolling at Bethune Cookman University. She chose B-CU because of its reputation for strong foundations in education, teacher preparation and liberal arts.

Dorsey wanted to become a teacher because her teachers were instrumental in supporting her after she lost her mother during her elementary school years.

Ms. Dorsey's words of advice for those entering education are, “A teacher always should remember your why, why you wanted to become a teacher in the first place.”

Another piece of advice she gives is, “It's important to build relationships with your students because some students don't always enjoy school, but if they like their teacher you can get them to do more, you know like getting them to be more comfortable in your classroom.” 

Ms. Dorsey has been a teacher at McDonough Middle for 7 Years and she feels that this year has been fun. She believes her students are hard working and smart. She grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Alliance of Teacher Leaders.
