Standard School Attire Requirements Learners are required to wear Standard School Attire every day at MMS. Our standard school attire teaches learners to dress for success. For our learners’ safety, there are no exceptions to this policy. If a special jeans day or other dress day occurs, information will be provided to learners and their parents/guardians in advance.
Quick Guide- Daily Wear
Shirt Collared, Solid Color: Black, White, Grey or Gold
T-Shirt McDonough Paraphernalia Shirts Only
Pants/Jeans Solid Color: Black, Khaki, Grey or White NO Leggings, NO Sweatpants or Pants with excessive rips, tears, or frays that shows skin
Shorts/Skirts Solid Color: Black, Khaki, Grey OR McDonough Plaid
Sweatshirt Worn with Collared Shirt Collared, Solid Color: Black, White, Grey or Gold
Shoes NO Slides, Bubble Shoes, Crocs, Slippers, or House Shoes; Shoes must cover the entire foot
Headwear Bandanas, Headwraps, Scarves, Bonnets, and Forehead Bands ARE NOT PERMITTED
Skirts/Dresses/Pants/Shorts:
• Pants, Shorts, Skirts, Jeans and dresses must be solid black, khaki, or McDonough plaid with no patterns, labels, or other markings.
• Jeans are allowed with no rips, holes, tears or (No Skin Showing). • Pants and skirts should be worn at the waist.
• Shorts may not be shorter than “fingertip” length. No cut-offs are allowed. All shorts must have a hem. • Skintight dresses /skirts are not permitted.
• Skirts and dresses must be “fingertip” length.
• Solid black or khaki jumpers should be worn with a standard school attire collared shirt underneath.
• No leggings, sweatpants, jeggings, or other skintight fabric is permitted unless covered by a skirt and are the same color of the skirt.
Shirts/Sweaters/Sweatshirts/Outside wear:
• All sweaters, hoodies, or sweatshirts must be solid colored in black, white, grey and gold
• No patterns, markings, labels, or other designs on shirt except an emblem that is no larger than 2”X3” on the upper left pocket area or sleeve; No pictures, labels or writing may be on the back of a sweatshirt or sweater.
• McDonough T-shirts can be worn; all other shirts must have a collar and cannot be sleeveless
• A standard school attire shirt must be worn underneath with the collar showing. • Turning sweatshirts or jackets inside out or tucking in a hood will not be an acceptable correction to standard school attire.
• School colored coats, windbreakers, and other types of jackets may be worn throughout the day.
• Knit hats, scarves, gloves, and other wintry weather accessories must be placed in a learner’s locker after arriving at school.
• Track jackets with stripes down the sleeve may be worn if they are black, white, gray, or gold. • Hoods and hats are NOT to be worn in the building at any time.
All items may be purchased from any department store, Target, Wal-Mart, JCPenney, Old Navy, or any uniform vendor. In addition, Everyday Image also carries all items and can add the McDonough Middle School Logo to any item for $6.50. *Administration reserves the right to ask any learner who is wearing an item/items deemed distracting or inappropriate to call a parent or guardian and get an alternate outfit. Standard School Attire and Citation Policy may be amended or revised during the school year*
