Beginning for the 2025-2026 school year, HCS students in grades K-12 are not permitted to display or use a cell phone, smartwatch, or other electronic communication device on school property during the school day.

McDonough Excellence

McDonough Middle School (MMS), located in the HEART of Henry County, offers an enriching educational experience providing students with numerous opportunities to grow academically, socially, and personally. Adhering to our commitment to advance an exceptional learning experience that promotes Powerful Learning for Purposeful Living, we are dedicated to student success and fostering a nurturing, positive learning environment.

 

We are fortunate to have an entire staff of dedicated professionals. Congratulations to our 2025 Teacher of the Year, Dywanna Howard and to our 2025 Educational Support Person of the Year,  

Our students have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of subjects, including high school courses such as Algebra I, Journalism, Spanish I, Physical Science, Comprehensive Arts, Engineering, and NJROTC.

 

Our school is committed to fostering a sense of belonging by offering a diverse array of clubs and organizations, including National Jr. Beta, SGA, Robotics, Cultural Appreciation, Young Men of McDonough, and more.

 

Our school has a high performing Fine Arts Program that consistently receives high marks on their Large Group Performance Evaluation. Additionally, we are the only middle school to offer Dance.

 

We are committed to supporting the whole child by providing intentional, individualized support aimed at meeting each student's unique needs. These supports help ensure that all students have access to the tools necessary for success.

This spring, our 7th Grade students demonstrated amazing growth in the area of reading on or above grade level. There was an impressive 19% improvement.
